The Halifax Historical Museum is situated in the former Merchant's Bank Building, located in the heart of the downtown historical district. The museum features impressive collections and exhibits of artifacts from the plantation period to modern-day auto racing; included are an 800-yr-old Timucuan dug-out canoe, an African-American heritage exhibit, and more. The museum also features a theater which presents videotapes relating
Daytona Beach history, an extensive archival library, and a recently-expanded gift shop.
In addition, the Museum offers first-hand oral history accounts and personal memorabilia that relate momentous events such as World War II for visitors, and sponsors various public and educational programs. The museum is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday.
