Douai France

Douai is located in the flat country, along the banks of the Scarpe River. It is 13 miles SW of the Belgium border, 24 miles south of Lille and 121 miles NE of Paris. Douai was an important center for the Pas de Calais coal industry. The coal mines raised their last coal in 1990 and the town has now emphasized its tourist-friendly face.
