Search Le Puy-en-Velay

Built as a stopover for medieval pilgrims heading to Santiago de Compostela in NW Spain, this Romanesque cathedral houses the famous Black Madonna, a 17th-century copy of the one that belonged to Louis IX. Showing heavy influences of Moorish Spain, the cathedral is the center of the Holy City complex located in the upper part of the town.
