This site is seven miles northwest of
Lanai City on the Kanepu'u Hwy, a dirt road that should only be attempted in an off road vehical in good weather. In other words, the road is bad and needs work.
Erosion at the site has carved an array of pinnacles and buttes in a canyon in the open countryside. Morning and afternoon lighting increases the light and shadow of the odd formations, giving them an unreal quality.
The road is even rougher after the Garden of the Gods. It ends at Polihua Beach on the island's north coast. Currents are too strong for swimming. The western tip of the island is Kaena Point, also reached by a very rough road.
