Mission Houses Museum

This museum is dedicated to the American missionaries who first arrived in 1820 and lived on this spot. The white frame house was pre-fabbed in New England and shipped around the Horn and assembled on this site.

The missionaries were able to explain their position to Hawaiian royalty and gained their favor. They went on to influence all aspects of island life and culture. Their descendants have become leaders in business and government.

Guided tours are conducted hourly with the last tour at 3pm. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm and Sunday 12:30pm to 4pm. It is closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Days.

The museum is located on the Diamond Head side of Kawaiahao Church in the old part of Honolulu.
