The Fort |
The reconstructed remains of one old wall still stands at this old lockup. Sailors visiting Lahaina objected to the missionary ban on Native women visiting their ships. They fired off cannons in protest and were locked up in the fort.
Hawaii's first king Kamehameha lived here only a year because his favorite wife refused to join him. The building collapsed 70 years later, leaving portions of the wall only and four cannons used to protect the site.
