This handsome restored Victorian house formerly served as a clubhouse and fraternal society for the Chinese community in Lahaina. Chinese workers brought to harvest sugar cane built The Wo Hing Society social hall in 1912 as a place of worship. This historic site is located on Front St. Today, it is the only public Taoist alter on
Maui Island.
Located on the second floor is an alter for Taoist worship. A historic theater shows very early Thomas A. Edison silent films of Hawaii shot in 1898. Chinese artifacts are also on display.
It is open daily 9:00am to 4:30pm and is free of charge.
