Blackfoot stands as an oasis in the desert with many attractons and facilities for its citizens and visitors. First named Grove City because of the abundance of trees, Blackfoot is still a city of trees and parks such as Jensen Grove Park and Lake with a 2 mile Greenbelt Path around the lake, Airport Park and Old Courthouse Square.
Blackfoot is also home of the Eastern Idaho State Fair which attracts thousands of visitors during the first week of September. Along with its base of agricultural and commercial exhibits comes a fascinating variety of entertaining night shows, horse races and a carnival.
The county seat of Bingham County, Blackfoot is also the agricultural center of east Idaho's important potato industry.
