Amity Elementary School is unique for many reasons other than its architectural style. It was opened in 1979 as a model for school construction nationwide. They operate "a school within a school" system that is regularly compared to year-round track schools. There is only one classroom per grade level that operates on a different calendar called the optional track. Library facility is also provided.
