The more than 600,000 acres of the
Hells Canyon NRA straddle the
Snake River Canyon and include part of national forests in both Idaho and Oregon. As the
Snake River passes through, it follows the deepest gorge in America, dropping almost 8000 feet. With the extreme differences in elevation, the NRA encompasses a wide variety of environments.
