Arthur is located in central Illinois in the heart of Amish country and is split between
Moultrie County on the west and
Douglas County on the east. It is about 25 miles east-southeast of
Decatur along Highway 133 five miles west of the
Kaskaskia River and 15 miles northeast of
Lake Shelbyville.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,161, an increase of 49 since 1990.
