Athens

Athens is located in central Illinois in Menard County just north-northwest of Springfield, the state capital, along Highway 29 just east of the Sangamon River. Local attractions include the Abe Lincoln Long Nine Museum. In addition, Lincoln's New Salem State Park is located less than 10 miles west-northwest of town.
