Cambridge is located in rural
Henry County, (of which it is the county seat), in northwestern Illinois between
Galesburg and
Geneseo on Highway 82 about 15 miles east of
Interstate 74. The population estimate for the year 2000 was about 2,200.
The nearest metropolitan area is the Quad Cities area to the northwest. The area includes the cities of Rock Island and Moline as well as Davenport, IA.
