Channahon is located in northeast Illinois in Grundy County about 10 miles northeast of Morris along U.S. Highway 6 on the banks of the Illinois and Michigan Canal. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 6,953, an increase of 2,687 since 1990.Several recreational opportunities are within minutes of town including the Channahon State Park, the Goose Lake Prarie State Natural Area, William G. Stratton State Park and Des Plaines State Park.
