Flossmoor is located in northeastern Illinois in
Cook County south of
Chicago and just northwest of
Chicago Heights.
The town's name is of Scottish derivation and is translated as "Dew on the Flowers,"/"Gentle Rolling Countryside." Community events include the "Flossmoor Festival" which is held on the weekend after Labor Day. For revelers, the Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery was voted Chicagoland's Best Brewery.
