Forsyth is located in central Illinois in Macon County just north of Decatur along U.S. Highway 51.

Area recreation includes trips to Weldon Springs State Park located about 10 miles north of town and Clinton Lake State Park 20 miles to the northeast as well as activities in and on Clinton Lake. In addition, golfing aficionados will enjoy the challenge of Hickory Point Golf Course.
