Harwood Heights is located in northeastern Illinois in
Cook County on
Chicago's west side southeast of
Park Ridge and about 5 miles east of
Chicago - O'Hare International Airport.
Although the first settlers began coming to the area after the War of 1812 ended in 1815, the area remained unincorporated until 1948 when it received its Village charter. The population at the time was 400. Today, the population is estimated at 7,700.
Area recreation includes outings to Ridgemoor Country Club.
