Lake Lou Yeager is a 1,500-acre impoundment with a 45-mile shoreline located in southwestern Illinois in Montgomery County
just minutes east of Interstate 55
. The lake is fed from the north by the west fork of Shoal Creek. The nearest sizeable populace is Litchfield
about 5 miles to the southwest.
The lake, with its sandy beach, is used in a variety of ways including beach volleyball, swiming, boating and fishing. In addition, reenactments feature period costumes and knife- and tomahawk-throwing demonstrations.
