This site lies in north central Illinois in southwestern
Bureau County about 40 miles east-southeast of
Moline and one mile south of
Sheffield, encompassing about 900 acres of mostly unreclaimed strip-mining land. The area is dotted with some 15 lakes stocked for fishing. Be aware that shore access is limited and that shorelines tend to drop off suddenly to deep water.
