Coronado-Quivira Museum

Operated by the Rice County Historical Society, this museum has exhibits pertaining to the Coronado expedition of 1541 and the Native American village complex that the Spanish explorers encountered in Central Region, which they called the "Land of Quivira." The Coronado-Quivira Museum in Lyons, Rice County, is one of the best small museums in Kansas. Separate displays focus on early inhabitants, Spanish explorers, the Sante Fe Trail, and the coming of homesteaders and permanent settlers.

Part of the museum is in the old Carnegie Library, with most of the displays in the newer, adjacent structure.
