In the Central Region of the state and the county seat of Chase County. Also the largest town in the county. West of Emporia between Strong City and Bazaar along Hwy 177. Situated on the south side of the Cottonwood River near Chase State Fishing Lake & Park. Pop. (2000) 966, Elev. 1175.

'Fly in' breakfasts are a unique events in this community. There is music each Friday night at The Emma Chase Cafe, as well as a biker's breakfast on the third Sunday of each month, Emma is the host for the fly in breakfasts.
