Along Hwy 106 on the banks of the Solomon River, this is a rural community in the farmland of N. Central Kansas. Farming continues to be the backbone of todays economy with 250,000 acres of cultivated land surrounding Minneapolis. Ottawa State Lake & Park and Salina lie to the south. For hunting enthusiasts, hunting in the heart of Kansas offers some of the best upland bird, white-tail deer and turkey hunting in Kansas. Minneapolis is the official boyhood town of George Washington Carver. The Ottawa County Museum has an illuminating display of the famous Agricultural Scientist's life and work.
