The Louisiana Naval War Memorial Foundation preserves the legacy of the U.S. Navy destroyer and those who served aboard such vessels: the Tin Can Sailor. It consists of an observation tower, museum complex and the USS Kidd, a World War II destroyer. The Nautical Center has a model ship collection, maritime artifacts, the Louisiana Veterans Hall of Honor and a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall found in Washington D.C.
