Opelousas

Opelousas is located in St. Landry Parish (of which it is the parish seat) within the Cajun Country Region, between Lafayette and Alexandria along Interstate 49 near Eunice, Ville Platte, and Krotz Springs.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 18,984, a decrease of 107 since 1990.
