Plaquemine

Plaquemine is located in Iberville Parish (of which it is the parish seat) within the Plantation Country Region, between Baton Rouge and Donaldsonville on the banks of the Mississippi River along Hwy 1 near Bayou Maringouin and Port Allen.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 6,312, a decrease of 789 since 1990.
