The commune of Ettelbruck, population 7,343, is located 20 kilometers due north of
Luxembourg City, at the confluence of the
Sure and the
Alzette, plus the junction of several roadways and railway lines. It is a commercial, agricultural, and industrial center, often called the Gateway to the
Ardennes.
The Patton Museum, honoring the American general who led the army that liberated Luxembourg from the Germans in 1944, is located in Ettelbruck.
