Essex Shipbuilding Museum

Located on Main St., this museum is housed in an 1835 schoolhouse and a 1668 shipyard. Featuring antique shipbuilding tools, photographs and documents, the museum also displays artifacts portraying the shipbuilding industry. A videotape presentation and hands-on activities also are available.

Open Monday - Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 1pm-5pm in May through Columbus Day. Open by appointment the rest of the year.
