Lexington Battle Green |
This Common was the site of the first skirmish of the Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775, between Minutemen and Concord-bound British troops. The line where the Minutemen stood is marked by a boulder inscribed with Capt. John Parker's courageous words: "Stand your ground; don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here."
