North Adams Massachusetts |
North Adams is located in Berkshire County 18 miles N of Pittsfield between Houghtonville and Briggsville along Highway 2 on the banks of the Hoosic River near Greylock State Reserve. Once a thriving industrial and railroad center, North Adams is now a popular stop-off point along the scenic Mohawk Trail, which winds through the Berkshire Mountains and follows the Deerfield River eastward to Greenfield. Williamstown is the western terminus of the route. Notch Road, off Hwy 2, leads to the 3,491 foot summit of Mount Grelock, the highest point in Massachusetts.
