Located in the Library-Museum-Archives Building in the Statehouse Complex. Exhibits depicting Maine's natural environment, prehistory, social history and manufacturing heritage are featured. The museum also offers a display on American Indian basketry, early 19th-century painted wall decorations and one of the oldest American-made locomotive engines.

Open business hours Monday-Friday, and 10am to 4pm on Sat., 1pm to 4pm on Sun.

Closed on major holidays.
