Mt. Desert Island is situated off the south coast of Maine in
Hancock County. Most of the island is taken up with the
Acadia National Park. The major town is
Bar Harbor. Mt. Desert Island is connected to the mainland across the Mt. Desert Narrows by Highway 3.
