Vinal Haven Island is situated at the southern edge of
Penobscot Bay, facing the Atlantic Ocean. The community of Vinalhaven is connected by ferry service with the mainland at
Rockland. Vinal Haven Island is separated by a narrow strait from
North Haven Island.
