Concord is in
Jackson County, and in the
Central Region. You can locate Concord southeast of
Battle Creek between
Jackson and
Coldwater along Highway 60. Concord is part of the
Jackson, Michigan metro area.
Concord was first pioneered by William Van Fossen in 1832 when he built the first residence here, calling it Van Fossenville. He officially named it Concord when he applied for the post office, feeling that the community was living in close harmony.
Concord primarily functions as a commuter town to the surrounding Jackson area, about ten miles to the east, and is mainly supported by some local small businesses and manufacturing.
