Union Pier is located in
Berrien County between
New Buffalo and
Bridgman along Interstate 94 on the banks of the Green River near the shore of
Lake Michigan.
Union Pier is part of the Benton Harbor, Michigan metro area.
The forests in Union Pier were an incredibly valuable and plentiful resource. Soon the settlement was joined by many New Yorkers who understood the economic potential, and another Harbor Country community was born.
