Contains the Kensington Runestone, found on the farm of Olaf Ohman in 1898. Carvings on the stone tell of the tragic journey of a band of Vikings in 1362. Although recent studies by runic scholars affirm the stone's authenticity, some controversy persists. A 26-ton replica of the stone is in Runestone Park, one mile east on Hwy 27.
Exhibits also include a collection of 14th-century Viking implements, a comprehensive display of Minnesota wildlife and birds, North American wildlife displays, historical displays, and a 28-foot Viking statue weighing more than 4 tons.
