Depot

This is a renovated 1892 railroad depot with four museums containing living-history and art exhibits representing 200 years of various cultures. The Lake Superior Museum of Transportation houses a large collection of railroad cars and locomotives dating 1860-1960. Depot Square, a re-creation of Duluth as it appeared 1910-20, contains 22 old-time stores and a street car, which operates in summer. Historical displays and a children's museum are included. Eastman Johnson American Indian portraits are featured as well as Ojibwa beadwork, quillwork, basketry and related artifacts; two additional art galleries showcase work by regional and national artists. Open daily 10am-5pm.
