Cottonlandia Museum |
This unique museum displays items relating the history of Leflore County and the Mississippi Delta with a special emphasis on cotton agriculture and production. Included in the museum's eclectic collection are pre-Columbian pottery, farm tools, an impressive Indian bead collection, displays by Mississippi artists, a wildflower garden and geological and military history exhibits. Local American Indian artifacts include photographs of, and relics from, the last chief of the Choctaw Nation east of the Mississippi River.
Children will find the museum's 'Delta Swamp' natural history displays especially fascinating; of special interest is the mastadon skeleton on display, which was excavated in the Greenwood area. Open daily.
