Gautier is located in Jackson County (of which it is the county seat) 20 miles E of Biloxi on the banks of the Pascagoula River River.

Located on the Gulf, off I-90, the Alabama State border is nearby. Gautier is part of the Biloxi-Gulfport-Pascagoula, Mississippi metro area.
