Flathead National Forest

The 2.3 million-acre Flathead National Forest is bordered by Canada to the north, Glacier National Park on the north and east, Lolo National Forest to the south, Kootenai National Forest to the west and Lewis and Clark National Forest to the east. It contains the 15,000-acre Jewel Basin Hiking Area as well as the Great Bear and Mission Mountain wilderness areas and part of the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

Big-game species found in the area include bear, elk, moose, big horn sheep, mule and white tail deer, and Rocky Mountain goat.
