The Avalanche Basin Outfitters offers premium guided hunts in the Big Belt Mountains of Central Montana. They provide hunting trips for elk, deer, and mountain lion. It has 43,000 acre private ranch takes in 5 main drainages. The ridges and slopes are covered with scattered timber and numerous basins. All hunts are six full days of actual hunting. Most of their hunting is done by glassing, spotting elk at first light, then stalking to within shooting distance. Horses are used for traveling in steep, inaccessible areas and places close enough to hunt with them effectively. 4x4 vehicles are used for getting to far ends of the lease, and for people preferring not to use horses. The cabins come with beds, mattresses, heating stoves, lights, and gear storage.
