Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469-mile scenic road connecting Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee. The route follows the crest of the Blue Ridge and other ranges at elevations ranging from 646 to 6,410 feet. The parkway offers scenic panoramas; hiking trails can be reached from many overlooks and parking areas. During the summer, many craft demonstrations and ranger programs are provided at various points along the parkway. A speed limit of 45mph is enforced; to drive the entire length, plan on 3-5 days at an average speed of 30mph.
