Carolina Beach is located in New Hanover County on Pleasure Island south of Wilmington, between Seabreeze and Kure Beach along US Highway 421 on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean near the Carolina Beach State Park, Fort Fisher State Park, Cape Fear River, and the Intracoastal Waterway. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,711, a decrease of 280 since 1990. Carolina Beach is part of the Wilmington, North Carolina metro area.
