Since 1938, generations of Western North Carolinians have trusted Thoms Rehabilitation Hospital for the treatment of catastrophic illness and injury. Today, Thoms is a regional leader in physical medicine services, offering traditional and specialized rehabilitation programs to those with physical, cognitive and developmental impairments. Established as a 20 bed haven for children with disabilities, Thoms is now a 100 bed private, not-for-profit regional referral center. With comprehensive inpatient and outpatient programs for all ages, Thoms has been recognized by the national Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, CARF, for their "qualified, energetic, committed and dedicated staff." Thoms Rehabilitation Hospital is also accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, JCAHO, as well as CARF accredited for Comprehensive Inpatient Services.
