Located in the Uwharrie Mountains along the Pee Dee River and Lake Tillery, Morrow Mountain features miles of mountain trails to wander on foot or horseback. Visit the historic Kron House, greenhouse, and hospital of an early 19th century physician. Stay for a while in a cabin or a campsite and enjoy a dip in the pool or a boat ride on the lake. The 1800s are still alive at Morrow Mountain. History buffs will enjoy the homesite of Dr. Francis Kron, which is located at the foot of Fall Mountain. Dr. Kron is recognized as the first medical doctor to settle and practice medicine in the southern piedmont of North Carolina. Kron's home, doctor's office, infirmary, as well as greenhouse were reconstructed in 1960 and appear today, much as they did in 1870.
