Rolla is located in northern ND in
Rolette County (of which it is the county seat) along U.S. Highway 281 just east of the
Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation and about 60 miles north-northwest of
Devils Lake.
Nearby outdoor recreation includes activities around Rock Lake 20 miles to the east and Lake Metigoshe State Park about 35 miles west-northwest of town. In addition, Rolla Municipal Golf Course, built in 1973, invites golfers to challenge their 9-hole, par 36, 2,950-yard layout.
