Dr Harold Edgerton, the founder of electronic flash photography, was a native of Aurora and gave his name to the center. Edgerton also developed the strobe flash and the side sonar scanner. The "Explorit Zone" presents interactive exhibits providing visitors with insight into many different scientific principles and phenomena.
