Weeping Water is located in Cass County east of Lincoln, between Murdock and Murray along Hwy 1, just west of the Missouri River and South Dakota boarder.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,041, an increase of 33 since 1990.

Weeping Water is part of the Omaha, Nebraska-Iowa metro area.

An Indian legend tells of a battle which began when one tribe stole the daughter of another tribes chief, and ended three days later when all the braves lay dead. The tears cried by the families of the fallen warriors were said to have formed the Weeping waters.

Today, Weeping Water has several limestone quarries, which produce crushed rock and allied products and provide industrial activity for this otherwise rural community.
