The highlight of this state recreation area is Lahontan Reservoir, covering 12,000 surface acres when full and with 69 miles of shoreline. The reservoir offers fishing, boating, water skiing, and a boat launch. Camping, picnicking and RV sewage dump facilities are also available. Lahontan is located on the Carson River, 18 miles west of Fallon and 45 miles east of Carson City via Hwy 50. The park can be accessed from several entrances on Hwy 50 east of Silver Springs, and Hwy 95 south of Silver Springs.
