Coxsackie

Coxsackie is located in Greene County 26 miles south of Albany between Athens and Climax along Highway 385 on the banks of the Hudson River and is in the Southern Region of the state. The town was named from an Indian word meaning 'hoot of an owl.'

Local residents signed a "declaration of independence" here in 1775, a year before the Continental Congress did so.
