Croton-On-Hudson is located in
Westchester County just north of Ossining along Highway 129 on the banks of the
Hudson River.
Named for the Croton River it was established as the home of laborers building the dam that created Croton Reservoir. In the 1920s this was a center for progressive intellectuals including Doris Stevens and John Reed.
